Job Description

Position Overview:

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing paperwork accurately for domestic and international shipments and coordinating the transportation of the finished products to the customers to ensure prompt delivery.  


Core Responsibilities:

• Pick, pull, label, and prepare domestic and international shipments. 

• Process orders for Hazmat international shipments. 

• Investigate and resolve customer issues pertaining to shipping, paperwork, and finished goods OS&D process (over, short and damaged). 

• Examines, prepares, and administers documents such as packing lists, invoices, bills of lading and shipping statements.

• Ensure accuracy and integrity of shipments and packaging to ensure timely deliveries.

• Coordinates and arranges trucks for domestic and international orders.

• Operates material handling equipment on routine basis

• Ensure all shipments are in regulatory compliance.

• Generate pick-lists and ensure order completeness prior to shipment.

• Coordinate all orders requested by customer (i.e. special crating, palletizing, customer labeling, and/or placards).

• Stay current on international exporting changes, such as new commodity codes and customs regulations.

• Arrange for disposal of scrap and track recycling items (ex. weight, scheduling, freight costs).

• Follow all Company safety procedures and good housekeeping practices. ‘

• Act in accordance with all company policies and procedures. 

• Perform other duties as assigned. 


Job Requirements

Core Skills/Education/Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent 

• Minimum 2+ years related domestic and international shipping experience

• Prior experience in a manufacturing industry preferred

• Previous forklift experience preferred

• IMDG, DOT and IATA training preferred

• Experience with Navision software a plus. 

• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.  Must be detailed oriented.

• Ability to obtain HazMat certification

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

• Must be motivated to grow and develop skills for advancement. 

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 

• Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment.

• Ability to lead projects and train others, as needed.

• Must have excellent customer service skills and able to work cross-functionally with other departments. 

• Able to adapt to changes in the work environment; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

• Able to understand manufacturing processes / procedures and product applications.

• Must be dependable, have good attendance and be punctual. 

• Able to work overtime when required.
