Job Summary: 

This individual is responsible for overall divisional safety and government body compliance/reporting through the implementation of best-in-class safety programs, safety infrastructure and safety training for all employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities of the job include, but are not limited to, building a best-in-class safety culture that drives safety in all daily activities for all employees, provides regular safety training, drives safety infrastructure projects and programs, keeps and reports all safety statistics, and ensures compliance with all government bodies while maintaining excellent relationships with local community service organizations. 

  • Partners with all teams and departments to continue to grow a strong safety culture with the goal of Zero Accidents
  • Leads all safety incident and near-miss investigations, with focus on identifying root cause and implementing effective countermeasures
  • Safety training program leader
  • Leads the site Safety Committee, facilitates the monthly Safety Committee meeting, and drives the Safety Audit process across all areas of the campus
  • Be the voice of safety for all management of change activities including capital projects and hygiene programs
  • Conduct job safety analysis for all jobs
  • Drive best-in-class safety policy, infrastructure, behavior and programs
  • Maintain and report period safety statistics
  • Work closely with the local ITW Technical and Regulatory team
  • Ensures government body compliance and builds excellent relationships with our community
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in Environmental, Health, Safety or Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Chemistry or Chemical Engineering considered a plus
  • CSP certification or CSP certifiable
  • 5 Years in the life as a safety professional, previous experience in specialty chemical field a plus
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Experience in ergonomic analysis a plus

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of an organization, computer literacy etc.
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional environment
