Position Summary:
Powertrain Fastening is seeking a Quality Supervisor in Lexington, KY. This plant-based role is responsible for leading sustainability of the compliance process and driving quality improvements to meet customer expectations.   This role reports to the Plant Manager.  A successful Quality Supervisor possesses an ability to handle multiple projects and assignments, work well with people at all levels, ability to train on department specific policies and have good general software /technology experience (MS Office, QAD). The Quality Supervisor has overall ownership for facility audits, compliance to IATF- 16949, and partnering with the Commercial team to ensure customer and ITW requirements are met.  The Quality Supervisor will also provide direct leadership for the PPAP Coordinator role
Primary Function:

  • Ownership of the Quality System
    • PFMEA & Control Plans - Develop and update from lessons learned
    • CAR Log – Monitor and update
    • PCA follow through and read across
    • Internal audits – LPA
    • Risk - analysis and reduction
  • Ownership of Quality and Environmental Certification
    • IATF 16949:2016
    • ISO 14001:2015
    • BIQS, CQI, VDA, etc.…
  • Customer complaints and concerns
    • Mitigation and main point of contact
    • Corrective actions / 8D – responses and follow through
    • Work as intermediary with manufacturing
  • Sorting activities
    • Coordinate external sort activities
    • Minimize external and internal cost
  • Supplier quality
    • Primary contact for supplier related quality issues
    • Corrective actions / 8D – initiate and follow through
    • Audits and periodic visits to “80” suppliers
  • Drive internal quality
    • SPC Monitoring and training
    • Work in collaboration with manufacturing departments to improve processes
    • Corrective actions – initiate and follow through
  • Cost of quality – ownership
Other functions:
  • Customer score cards
    • Monitoring & posting
    • Team communications
  • Coordinate calibrations for gauges and scales as required
  • Product launches and updates
    • Strong participation in APQP process
    • Oversee PSW
    • Oversee PPAP
  • Review and disposition of non-conforming product

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Min 5 years of experience in relevant manufacturing processes and automotive industry preferably tier 1 or 2.
  • Advanced knowledge of Automotive OEM quality standards, systems, and processes.
  • Successful experience within a Tier 1 or 2 Automotive Supplier manufacturing facility.
  • Experience with APQP process to successful conclusion.
  • Working knowledge of ISO-9001/IATF-16949 requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Discipline or equivalent/relevant experience preferred.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent is preferred.
