Job Description

Position Summary:

The Project Engineer position is a hands on working position.  Responsibilities will include, but not limited to; coordinating all aspects of new programs to achieve corporate goals and maintain production requirements for current products. Research and recommend suitable materials and technologies. Provide and assist in the coordination and leadership of higher level projects in support of innovation and global business objectives.

Core Responsibilities:

•         Coordinate projects as an individual contributor or as a member of a cross-functional team.

•       Direct and troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve engineering project issues

•         Support and implement product release plans as assigned.

•         Research and document new technologies to be considered for future product line enhancements.

•         Participate in or conduct design reviews and provide feedback,

•         Research and provide the required product information to support sales, service and marketing to satisfy customer needs.

•         Oversee project budgets, schedules and timeline management.

•         Ensure products comply with regulatory requirements (e.g.: OSHA, UL, CSA, CE, ATEX, IATF 16949, ISO 9001/14001 including federal, local, and industry safety requirements.) as required.

•         Interface with customers and suppliers on project matters, mold and assembly & fixture designs,validation plans, product quality issues, and automation related issues.

•         Coordinates the Process Validation of internal components and purchased components & materials working with Process Engineering/Quality

•         Responsible for Final Validation of Product

•         Responsible for ensuring Design for Manufacturability – advises customers on required mold/part design changes

•         Prepares complete and accurate records of assigned project activities per the established Quality System and Validation Guidelines

•         Creates Procedures, Work Instructions and Protocols as required

•         Creates/Coordinates Engineering Change Notices for all New and Existing Products

•         Plans and organizes project time lines for assigned projects using established formalized Project Management tools

•         Advises management of any cost/delivery related issues for assigned projects

•         Conducts regular project meetings with customers and internally, publishes timely project updates, and follows-up continuously on all open critical path items

•         Generate and maintain documentation for all internal processes, inspection criteria, Bill of Materials, validation protocols/reports and other manufacturing and quality records

•         Help drive safety and PPE procedures/policies.

•         Ensure that all ITW guidelines are followed and safety work practices are enforced.

•         Follows all procedures as outlined by ISO 9001, OSHA and IATF 16949.

•         Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


  • B.S. in Engineering or Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
  • Effective oral, interpersonal and written communication skills, including listening.
  • Computer skill proficiency to include Microsoft Office: Word, Project, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint as well as 3D CAD, such as SolidWorks,
  • Must be adaptable, flexible, organized and act with a sense of urgency, and able to operate independently
  • Must have demonstrated analytical/problem-solving, project management/task planning, engineering risk assessment, creativity/innovation and technical leadership skills.
  • Must be able to make sound, logical judgments using deductive reasoning, attention to detail; understands the cause and effect of such decisions.
  • Ability to travel <20%.
  • Self-starter; works with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to display leadership in appropriate engineering discipline.


Desired Experience and Traits:

•         Knowledge of injection mold design and mold build methods

•         Knowledge of automation processes
