Job Description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of an assigned production area. The Production Supervisor oversees all areas of floor operations, production work force, material handling, customer returns, and shipping/receiving.



Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of production employees by coaching, guiding, conducting reviews, managing time, enforcing policies/procedures, and counseling when necessary;
  • Schedules Production as orders are received based on standard lead times and due date request. Manages priorities in scheduling and adjusts as needed
  • Develop, maintain and improve Key Performance Indicators such as lead times, scrap, and yields in order to improve customer satisfaction and reduce waste and costs. Ensure KPI’s are aligned with company objectives and employees understand and are engaged in achieving department goals.
  • Work with Process Engineers to maintain method sheet accuracy, perform regular audits and ensure methods are up-to-date, support production for interpretation of methods to follow set standards and retrain employees when necessary.
  • Manage process changes and ensure they are properly implemented
  • Interpret and support quality policies and implement guidelines to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Overall responsibility for quality and integrity of the product. Conduct quality audits to ensure methods and processes are up-to-date.   Work with quality, engineering, sales, and service team members to resolve quality issues at the root-cause-level.
  • Work closely with the Environmental and Safety Manager to ensure all members of the operations team are aware of safety policies to provide a safe workplace for our employees.
  • Maintain compliance with safety and environmental procedures by performing and documenting regular audits and following up on the findings. Provide feedback when procedures are not correct.
  • Train employees on processes, safety, quality, and Kan Ban process.
  • Work with Sourcing team on cycle count system, create records, and provide training to employees on their role in monthly/quarterly cycle counts.
  • Notify sales and/or customer service concerning delays and shortages with products.
  • Drive continuous improvements by applying ITW Toolbox 80/20, PLS, and USa principles/techniques and other Lean Manufacturing and Total Quality Management tools such as 5S, root-cause-analysis, and Kaizen.
  • Make recommendations to management for longer term improvements including process and organizational changes and capital equipment investment.

Job Requirements

Education:  Associate’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or Technical field required.   Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience/Skills: 

  • Minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible experience in a management position preferably in an operations/manufacturing environment.
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented
  • Ability to motivate people, asses and develop employee skills
  • Highly knowledgeable of manufacturing processes and stays current in assembly/manufacturing technology and trends
  • Strong working knowledge of business financials and accounting practices.
  • Strong knowledge of, and experience with, managing business unit budgets.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS requirements – drives ongoing improvements in local safety standards/performance
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, conflict resolution and decision-making skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
