Job Description


The Finish Tech will provide technical expertise and assist leadership in developing, facilitating, implementing, and troubleshooting process within the Paint Department processes.


This includes but is not limited to following:

  • Primary contact concerning chemicals used in area
    • Work with supplier to ensure consistent quality, performance and on time delivery
    • Work with chemical supplier on product testing and maintaining pretreatment supplies
    • Check and maintain chemical levels in a safe manner and maintain SDS log for department
  • Conduct scheduled operator PMs and coordinate maintenance repairs
    • Oversee cleaning/maintenance of system
    • Maintain filter press and clarifier on waste water system
    • Conduct daily titrations, record results and make appropriate adjustments
    • Check coating weights on stage 4 and record results
    • Conduct annual cleaning of pretreatment system
  • Provide technical support to environmental, maintenance, engineering tech's and production teams
    • Assist in paint quality testing and order supplies for areas of responsibility.
    • Provide troubleshooting support to paint processes and implement effective countermeasures
    • Drive quality, operational and safety enhancements within the department.
    • Be the primary contact for any environmental, paint processes, or alarms as they occur.
  • Oversee daily system start up; including bake oven, dry off oven, and pretreatment system.
  • 50% of the time will be used to help the paint line run effectively, duties include but not limited to: hanging parts, painting parts, moving materials, ordering supplies, inspecting parts, packaging, cleaning work areas, etc.
  • Work with paint line personnel on break rotations, vacations, and daily production when needed


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2-5 years of finishing experience is preferred but not required
  • Team player that is mechanically inclined and must have a strong working knowledge of powder coating, pre-treatment and waste water systems.
  • Self-starter that is quality conscious and is detail orientated.
  • Problem solving, analytical, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Resourcefulness in accomplishing objectives with solid decision-making skills
  • Applicant must be willing to become certified in the following; respirator training, Lockout / Tag-Out, Haz-Comm, SDS training, PPE training, fire extinguisher training, crane operation, slings & straps training and confined space training.
  • Applicant must successfully pass an assessment of pretreat and wastewater systems prior to completion of probationary period.
  • The applicant must be able to adapt to a fast-paced work environment safely with minimal training and must be able to stand for 8 to 12 hours and lift 50 lbs.
