Job Description

Magnaflux, a division of Illinois Tool Works (Fortune 250), is a leading worldwide supplier of magnetic particle, dye penetrant inspection equipment and associated chemical products used for applications within the Aerospace, Automotive, Oil & Gas and Energy markets.

We are looking for an Engineer Intern for this summer (2020) for our DeWitt, IA location.  This is a full-time, paid experience located about 30 miles north of Davenport.  You will work under the guidance and supervision of the Engineering Manager and with experienced engineers.

As an Engineering Intern with Magnaflux you can expect to grow through challenging work, get involved with meaningful projects and receive great coaching from our leaders. You will be expected to develop basic understanding of our standard and custom equipment, assist with mechanical and electrical designs and assist the team with a variety of responsibilities to ensure timely completion of projects.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the mechanical and/or electrical design of Magnaflux equipment and accessories.
  • Create and edit Bills of Material in the corporate MRP system.
  • Interact with vendors on the sourcing of components for equipment and accessories.
  • Create SolidWorks 3D models and drawings from existing 2D designs of Magnaflux equipment.
  • Plan and execute controlled testing of design prototypes to insure product performance and reliability.
  • Perform other assigned tasks in contribution to mechanical and electrical design projects
  • Assist with a variety of other engineering and administrative tasks essential to timely completion of New Product Development (NPD), and custom equipment projects.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Rising junior or senior pursing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Excellent communication, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong time management skills, ability to analyze and solve complex problems
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and follow-up skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
  • Experience in computer-aided design and modeling (SolidWorks experience preferred)
  • Experience or course completion in the following preferred
    • Electromagnetism
    • Power circuits and electromechanics
    • Mechanical design
    • PLC/Ladder Logic Programming
  • Ability to travel to Glenview, Illinois if required
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
