Job Description

We are looking for our new Safety Manager to join our Operations Team. You will report to Operations Director, Commercial Division and work closely with the Division leaders, safety counterparts in other Divisions and organization across ANZ as a whole to build safety culture.  

As a safety leader your focus will be to establish & manage the Division WHS management system, assess and manage risk and compliance to appropriate legislation and as the safety expert lead & drive initiatives by coaching, training and influencing across multiple sites in Australia and NZ.


The Safety Manager is a member of the Operations Leadership Team.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • provide strategic and operational safety leadership to the Commercial Division  
  • establish, manage and continuously improve the WHS Management System
  • act as safety expert ensuring compliance to relevant legislation and key H&S risks are identified and acted upon
  • drive continuous improvement while establishing H&S as a core leadership value 
  • design, co-ordinate and manage the delivery of H&S training
  • monitor and regularly report H&S performance against target levels, identifying any trends and implementing corrective actions as required

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will:

  • ability to identify and drive focus on the “80" issues and opportunities
  • hold relevant Safety qualifications
  • have experience leading and implementing Safety and risk management practices including identification of safety gaps, developing action plans and training 
  • Strong knowledge of risk management principles, Dangerous Goods, Chain of Responsibility, Manual Handling and related practices and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of Australian and New Zealand WHS Acts and legislation, regulations and code of practice
  • Demonstrated experience in working with work cover recognised WHS standards
