DESIGN ENGINEER RANGES  II

 

SCOPE:

To conceive, design, develop, and maintain products to achieve business unit and corporate goals.

FUNCTION:

Support and/or complete medium to high level, complex engineering tasks/projects as assigned to meet business objectives and product lines for the food service industry.

EDUCATION:

BS in Engineering required (BSME preferred).

EXPERIENCE:

5+ years engineering experience related to product design and development in a manufacturing environment. Foodservice equipment exposure/experience a plus.

SKILLS/ ABILITY:

•         3D modeling using SolidWorks (Sheet Metal Experience preferred).

•         Adaptable, flexible, innovative, problem solving skills, sense of urgency, listening skills.

•      Effective oral and written communication.

•         Task planning.

•         Applicable computer skills using Microsoft Suite.

•      Organizational and interpersonal skills.

•         Knowledge of various manufacturing and quality processes.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

•         Working knowledge of UL, CE and NSF standards. In depth knowledge and understanding of UL197 Standards.

•         Microsoft Project.

•         FMEA experience.

Job Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•         Product design responsibility of holding and cooking equipment including concept development, design validation, agency approval, print release, manufacturing evaluation and product launch within a specified project timeline.

•         Manage technical design aspects of a project from inception through production launch.

•         Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve engineering related issues.

•         Work closely with Tech Service and Operations to resolve warranty or vendor quality issues.

•         Participate in cost reduction projects and track annual cost reduction progress to established corporate goals.

•         Coordinate engineering activities with other departments including change plans, engineering changes, performance/agency testing and trial runs.

•         Create and develop engineering project documentation, i.e. bill of materials, drawings and specifications.

•         Support and implement product release plans as assigned.

•         Support sales, service and marketing to resolve customer issues.

•         Travel to end user locations to understand and resolve issues.

•         Contribute to a cross-functional team as required to support the development of other projects related to the group.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS:

Office & R&D Laboratory Environment

•         Travel up to 40%.

•         Hands on testing and/or trouble shooting.

•         Lifting up to 50 lbs.
