Job Description


This position is responsible for providing support to the mold release R&D team.  The chemist will assist in identifying and testing incremental improvements to current formulas for ease of manufacturing and cost reduction while providing ongoing support to Quality, Production, and New Product Development.   

Essential Duties

  • Propose product design changes that will improve processing efficiency, reduce raw material costs, or better meet customer performance expectations.

  • Ensure that all critical raw materials have secondary sources of supply while minimizing the number of vendors.

  • Ensure proper resolution of manufacturing challenges with scale-up, raw material substitutions, packaging, stability, or other quality issues that may arise.

  • Assists Production and Quality for investigating manufacturing abnormalities and conducting root cause analysis for rejected batches of product and presents findings to Quality for review/approval prior to making changes.

  • Manufactures samples and prototype formulations

  • Test proposed formulations for performance, lifetime, and manufacturability and modify as needed.

  • Scales-up successful experimental formulations and writes manufacturing and quality instructions and specifications.

  • Actively supports the Change Control process for making changes to current products.

  • Manages multiple projects/tasks independently or on a team using the 80/20 philosophy.

  • Develops and maintains electronic / manual record-keeping systems, as applies to Research and Development.

  • Keep abreast of regulatory statutes that could impact compliance of existing products.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and corporate ethics.
  • Additional duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related field.
  • 1+ years laboratory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with mold release chemistry and industrial blending operations a plus.
