ITW Specialty Films Division designs, manufactures and markets specialized coated and/or metalized films for the Card, Security, and Medical markets. The division leverages unique core competencies and technologies in films, foils, laminates, holography and transfers to address customer needs globally. Operates in 5 locations (NA & EU).
Position Purpose
Under direction of the Operations Manager, performs and manages activities including operational process control, quality improvement, plant efficiency, supplier development, scrap reduction, new product development controls / process development and supports 80/20 initiatives. Provide expertise and technical leadership in process development and process optimization, across new and existing business activities. Participate in the Quality management system by maintaining plant conformance and participating in various audits. This position resides ITW Specialty Films' Cranbury, NJ facility (ITW Covid Security).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product
Ensure continuous control over materials, facilities & products
Partner with the Quality team to investigate and respond to customer complaints regarding quality
As required, review control of nonconformance material disposition and inspection of reworked product
Responsible for Document Control of manufacturing and Quality documents, including distribution, removal of obsolete forms and work instructions
Review quality problems with Production Team and assist with action required to correct defect
Prepare periodic reports containing departmental activities, problems, schedules, and rejected items
Lead and implement quality procedures and customer specific requirements
Assist R&D, and Process Engineering in process tasks related to new product development manufacturing
Occasional travel to customer sites to gather data, support sales, troubleshoot process problems may be required
Work with plant personnel on improving/reducing operations issues affecting ink/coating preparation, manufacturing/finishing, and warehousing
Research outside resources (e.g. vendors, raw material suppliers, consultants) who can support evaluation and/or implementation of optimized processes
Understand all responsibilities regarding the Occupational Health and Safety Act. All safety rules must be followed, and all work areas must be kept in a clean and orderly condition
Other activities as assigned/requested by managers related to achieving business goals and/or improvements
Qualifications / Basic Job Requirements
BS in Engineering or related degree
Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment using tools such as 80/20, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc. to improve quality and productivity
Experience with manufacturing processes and unit operations used in the chemical/film industry
Very strong analytical ability and logical problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills, MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Also, lab and production work around machines and toxic substances
Travel approximately up to 25%, plus travel between site locations
Limited physical effort required. Duties require ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
Some exposure to physical risk in plant and lab areas. Plant can/may include heat, humidity, machinery with moving parts, noise, and frequent exposure to chemicals/solvents (toxic and flammable substances). PPE required.
