ITW Powertrain Metals Division serves major tier suppliers with tightly toleranced and innovative components for the automotive and industrial markets. The Division holds  a  leadership position in North America and a growing presence in Europe. The division also supports ITW initatives for our facility in China. The division drives profitability by leveraging its innovative solutions,  design engineering and global footprint.  

This is a technical sales position which is a working combination of an Account Manager and Product Development Engineer to be based out of the Detroit region. The position will be the main interface with customers on assigned accounts for all future and existing programs. The incumbent will collaborate with customer engineering to develop and design advanced solutions for forward-model vehicle and system applications and have responsibility for broadening ITW Drawform’s presence with existing product line proliferation and identifying customer needs for targeted new product development activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Identifies, develops and deploys comprehensive customer growth strategies to develop new products in both existing and new product segments.
  • Establishes rapport with customer engineering teams to identify current and future needs.
  • Monitors and reports out on future industry trends and implications.
  • Develops and manages target and open projects which translate into sold orders.
  • Coordinates customer commercial negotiations, including LTA’s, value-pricing, lead-time, and tool offering.
  • Develops sales forecasts for use in the annual & long-range planning processes; monitors market trends for use in forecast adjustments.

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related) required
  • 3-7 years of experience in automotive-related engineering or technical position.
  • Proven track record of sales and growth in a technical environment
  • Knowledge of vehicle powertrain, safety systems and advanced manufacturing methods required.
  • Experience in Braking, Steering, or EV system related area is a plus, but not necessary.
  • CAD / 3-D / simulation software is a plus, but not necessary.
  • Some travel will be required to support this position, potentially global.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams to develop creative solutions.
